In-Ground Worm Composters for the Winter
If you live in areas that only experience mild winter climates, simply insulating your vermicomposter will allow your worms to stay active all winter long. This can be done by adding layers of insulating material on top of your compost or even buying an electric heating pad. Keeping your compost above 55 degrees Fahrenheit will be ideal for worms to survive. The worms will process food slower, but you will still be able to dispose of your food scraps all winter long!
The Subpod is one of our favorite composters and there’s no exception for using it when the snow falls. As long as you keep your worms warm, it should work well all winter.
