These Bug Factory pods are a unique 3-tiered design that creates the ideal ecosystem to produce a constant supply of fresh, home-grown mealworms. The Bug Factory habitat is designed to produce 150g - 300g of mealworms per tray. Recycle your fruit and vegetable waste with the mealworm pods, while providing moisture to the colony. Turn low-cost waste feed (wheat bran, oatmeal) into high-quality pet feed.
Mealworms and bedding (their food) are not included
The Bug Factory is the perfect solution for affordable, nutritious live feed for your fish, poultry, birds, reptiles and other animals. These mealworms to feed your pets cheaper and more conveniently than online or store-bought mealworms. Mealworms are also hyper sustainable and very nutritious. Dried mealworms are high in protein, healthy unsaturated fats, fiber in the form of chitin, as well as being packed full of micronutrients and vitamins. They are an ideal, highly digestible addition to the diets of many animal species.
The Bug Factory has carbon filters to mitigate odors. Perforated lids keep colonies well oxygenated while simplifying harvesting of frass (castings, exoskeltons) through sifting. Adult beetles are cloistered in the blue breeding tray, keeping the distinct lifecycles separated for superior performance. You can expand your colony vertically up to 12 pods high for greater harvests!
The Bug Factory is made from 100% recycled plastic! The polymers are derived from the plastic inside liners of household refrigerators, which is a great way to reuse something that could otherwise end up in landfills.
